KrinkleKat 4 Posted January 22, 2020 Tommy, I noticed you were going to participate in the AIDS/Lifecycle biking fundraiser and thought you may appreciate these two links along with anyone who may be on the fence regarding donating to the cause: http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=4428 http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=4016 These are the two charitable organizations that are hosting the event so if anyone was questioning whether they should help out (http://www.tofighthiv.org/site/TR?px=3103070&fr_id=2180&pg=personal), then hopefully these reviews will paint a better picture as to where their money is going. And for anyone not familiar with Charity Navigator, per their site: Quote Founded in 2001, Charity Navigator has become the nation's largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. In our quest to help donors, our team of professional analysts has examined tens of thousands of non-profit financial documents. We've used this knowledge to develop an unbiased, objective, numbers-based rating system to assess over 9,000 of America's best-known and some lesser known, but worthy, charities. Specifically, Charity Navigator's rating system examines two broad areas of a charity's performance; their Financial Health and their Accountability & Transparency. Our ratings show givers how efficiently we believe a charity will use their support today, how well it has sustained its programs and services over time and their level of commitment to good governance, best practices and openness with information. In the not-too-distant future, we plan to also rate charities’ reporting of their results. We provide these ratings so that charitable givers/ social investors can make intelligent giving decisions, and so that the nonprofit sector can improve its performance. 1 Share this post Link to post
ReviewMeta 35 Posted January 23, 2020 Thanks for this! I've been told this is the single largest fundraising event for AIDS research/treatment and one of the best bang-for-your-buck in terms of donating to. Really excited to be a part of this! 2 Share this post Link to post
KrinkleKat 4 Posted January 23, 2020 You hear so many horror stories now a days about fundraising events that misused donations (hence my search on Charity Navigator), so as you can imagine, I was thrilled with your choice of charitable organizations and fundraising event. I was also excited to learn that my job will match my donation, dollar for dollar, so that should help with the cause!! 1 Share this post Link to post
